Keeping myself busy, revisited
Wow, another three weeks have gone by since my last entry! Where does the time go?
It’s gotten to the point that I’m too busy, I think. It’s cutting into my exercise time. Several times in the past three weeks, I found myself deciding not to climb onto the indoor trainer because either I was too tired or there was something else I needed to do.
One of the things that has kept me very busy recently is preparing for the local Diabetes EXPO event which happened yesterday, February 3. I was asked to speak about The Dream Tour and also to be at the Bayer HealthCare booth to ask questions about The Dream Tour and the Bayer Dream Fund.
Participating in this event was a lot of fun. As nervous as I get about public speaking, I seem to always reflect on it as a good experience. I guess because I always feel like I was able to connect with at least one person in the audience and that makes it all worthwhile. While we were out on The Dream Tour, we went to two big conferences and the Bayer HealthCare booth was huge and had a couple dozen people working in it. This event, however, was much smaller. Including myself, there were only three people in the booth and it still felt crowded. Part of that was because of all the people visiting the Bayer HealthCare booth. There seemed to be a lot of excitement about the two new blood glucose meters (the Breeze2 and the Contour) that Bayer HealthCare has on the market now. Steve McBride, the local Bayer HealthCare diabetes sales specialist, gave me a quick demo of both of them and I was impressed at the improvements they’ve made. I’m sure they’ll successful products.
Participating in this event was also a lot of work. I spend a lot of time preparing a speech for an event like this. The speech went well though because I think I was well-prepared. I wasn’t so well prepared for standing around the booth talking with people all day. I was exhausted when I got home. We had a neighbor stop by about dinnertime and I was barely able to stay awake. Not because he’s boring or anything; I was simply exhausted from the day’s events.
So, now that this event is done, I won’t be any less busy. I’ll just be able to get back to some of those things that I’ve been putting off. Things like riding the bike, organizing my study (believe it or not, I still have a “pile” of Dream Tour stuff to sort through), calling my parents, playing with the dogs.

Good to hear from you.

No need to comment except to let you know someone out there is reading your blogs. M&D
Peter,
Hi from the guy you spoke with in Bentonville, AR in May 2006. I agree with you about finding time to exercise when at home. Here in Pennsylvania it has been cold and I am retired but it still seems like there is not enough time to get exercise in.
Days will be getting longer and brighter soon so it will be possible to get on the road to ride. I have been going to YMCA for treadmill and stationary bike workouts. (Scenery much better in North Dakota then walls of local Y!
Stay healthy. I enjoy your blog.

Sounds fun!! Nothin’ like those concrete convention hall floors, though, eh??
I used the new contour a few weeks ago for some PR - I’m excited about the 5 second test! That was the only down side, now it’s the perfect meter
