July 24: Anacortes to Bellingham
I’m getting my gear together in preparation to ride to Bellingham today. I’m not sure I’m going to have internet access, so I thought I would do a quick post now with my plans for the next few days.
Tomorrow, I’m boarding the M/V Columbia in Bellingham for a three-day ferry cruise to Juneau, Alaska. I will not have internet access or cell phone access during that time. In fact, I won’t even have a bed to sleep in. Cabin space on the ferry is very limited and very expensive, so I’m doing what many people do on the Alaska Marine Highway ferries which is to sleep on deck. They have a heated, covered upper deck (I think they call it the “Solarium”) where many passengers do this.
I’ll arrive in Juneau on July 28, exactly one month after I left Salt Lake City.
